On 12 February at the Plaine Images, the official inauguration of the Equipex IrDIVE virtual reality space was held in the presence of Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
The Open Reality Experience (TORE) is a virtual reality equipment unique in its design allowing an immersive experience in 3D virtual environments of very high quality. The curved screen in all its dimensions and devoid of edges offers an unprecedented evolution compared to existing immersive rooms.
This equipment, which makes it possible to visualize realistic images and the application of behavioral objectification methods, results in an original interaction between human and social sciences and digital innovation.
The Minister stressed that
“the IrDIVE project is the very reason for the existence of the equipment of excellence”
The inauguration took place under the presidency of Jean-Christophe Camart, president of the University of Lille and in the presence of:
Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation
Nicolas Lebas, Vice-President in charge of Higher Education, Research, Europe and Territorial Planning in the Hauts-de-France region
Damien Castelain, President of the European Metropolis of Lille
Michel Bidoit, Director of the Institute of Information Sciences and their interactions (INS2I) of the CNRS
Yann Coello, Director of the Joint Research Unit (UMR) Scalab (Lille University / CNRS), Coordinator of Equipex Irdive and Olivier Colot, Director of UMR Cristal (Lille University / CNRS / Centrale Lille)
This technological innovation was funded by the National Research Agency (ANR) via the Investments for the Future Program (PIA – Irdive * equipment of excellence), the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) and the Métropole Européenne de Lille (MEL).
